Web3 game company Gala Games said it will publish its blockchain games on the Epic Games Store, starting with the Wild West titled Grit.

This is a big step towards highlighting the potential of games with non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which use the blockchain to authenticate unique digital items and enable players to resell the items. The exact launch time hasn’t been decided yet but it does have a live shop page.

While Valve banned NFT games, Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, said: Epic will allow them to be in the store, which has more than 194 million users.

Gala Games hopes to bring Web3 games to the masses, expose millions of gamers to this new kind of entertainment and solidify its position as a leader in the burgeoning Web3 games industry. While blockchain gaming companies raised a lot of money ($1.2 billion out of the $3.4 billion raised by all startups in the first quarter), the player base was small. Getting into the mainstream – even amid protests over the objections to NFTs from some players – has become a goal for all blockchain gaming companies focused on high-quality content.

Grit is the leading

Grit, a Wild West battle royale game built by Team Grit, is the first in the Gala Games series to hit the Epic Games Store. This announcement comes on the heels of a number of firsts for Web3. Gala recently announced the Web3 First Person Shooter (FPS) by Studio Triple A, launched the Gala Music platform, and announced the company’s upcoming launch of Spider Tanks, the world’s first NFT esport.

“Epic is a pioneer and visionary in the video game industry. Gala Games on the Epic Game Store provide legitimacy for this new genre of games,” said John Oswald, President of Games at Gala Games, in a statement. A turning point for gamers who have yet to see how digital ownership can enrich the gaming experience.”

Pebbles is built on Unreal Engine with realistic physics. Players need to saddle, ride and fight in the city. Every Grit game is different, from the Train Chase mode to the Golden Horse with the promise of epic confrontations and shooting.

Players face a gang of gunslingers with more than 400 types of old-school guns. It includes single, duo and team play modes. Encounters take place on horseback or on the tops of a steam train, so players need to make sure their arsenal is ready. Fans can wishlist the free game, and it will be launched later in 2022.

To celebrate the Galaverse (6-9 June 2022) starting today in Malta, Gala Games will be featuring a special sale of “The Gunslinger Box”, which will unlock one of 10,000 exclusive avatars. Each character has its own perks and attributes that the owner can play as in the game.

Themes are generating and will provide a unique look for each character. Owners will be able to take their favorite load of skins for certain weapons with them in the game, giving them an advantage over their peers. Sale starts today for Galaverse attendees and opens gradually throughout the week: Contract holders get access on June 7 and Gala Gold on June 8. The public will have access to the “The Gunslinger Box” sale on June 9. Sale for 12 hours.

“Here at Team Grit, we’re investing in this new ecosystem and seeing all the value that Web3 can add to the gaming experience,” said John Mavor, chief technology officer at Team Grit, in a statement. “We are excited to be working with Gala Games and being on the Epic Games Store. Web3 will make players’ experiences in the Wild West even better.”

Mavor and Bob Berry set up Team Grit as a game development and publishing company. They previously created Planetary Annihilation and the Monday Night Resistance. Grit is Team Grit’s first match.

More details about the Grit will be revealed over the course of the Galaverse, from June 6 to June 8 in Malta.

Grit is a battle royale in the Wild West.

Gala Games has built a platform that combines win-win gameplay mechanics and NFTs, and is recruiting game developers who know how to make fun games. The company works with developers like Will Wright and Peter Molyneux and popular entertainment brands like The Walking Dead. Oswald said in a previous interview that the focus is on making players happy.

Gala is a Web3 entertainment ecosystem that enables users to earn rewards for their routine leisure activities, such as playing, listening or watching. With true ownership made possible by blockchain technology, Gala is able to strategically incorporate ownership into multiple levels of the entertainment experience.

The best example of this is gameplay, where a gala player can own things like the ground where the battle is held. You can sell your items as if you were trading a cryptocurrency, as long as you know how to do it.

Gala Games has been financially successful with a small audience of Townstar and Spider Tanks (demo) games (totally over 1.3 million players), but the goal is to convert millions of other players to blockchain games.

Gala Games has built its blockchain ecosystem on the Gala Games token (GALA), which is built in accordance with the ERC-20 standard for the Ethereum blockchain, and is working with Binance Smart Chain. With the token, players can invest in and own their game assets, such as Spider Tanks. They can also resell it. The tokens also give them the right to vote on the future direction of the game’s development.

Gala Games’ GALA token has a market capitalization of $520 million, well below its November peak of $5.4 billion. Many blockchain gaming systems have followed the pattern of this market drop. But that hasn’t disrupted the company’s ability to fund new games.

The challenge is to make the process of buying, storing and selling NFTs an easy process that casual players can easily adopt. Gala uses Metamask wallets and the OpenSea trading platform.
